A year of firsts, it’s been so far
Been hurt, been bruised, have gone through war
A year of tears, of pained goodbyes
Lost friends, lost hope and wondering why

Been broke, been dragged across the dirt
Still managed a smile and saw the mirth
The buried laughter in all the tears
The courage found from all my fears

Throughout it all, I never thought to find
A kindred soul, who’s been hurt in kind
Someone who saw behind the wistful smiles
Who cared to listen, who stayed a while

Thanks to you I learned to feel again
Thanks to you I found my way to friends
Thanks for always being here with me
Thank you, for not giving up
For making real a childhood fantasy.
