False Hopes

I thought I’ve been down this road before
I swore this time I’d be immune
I begged the gods to be kind this time
Yet they still played me for a fool.

I hate this ache I feel inside.
I hate this sick sensation.
Like I’m dying or I’m out of breath.
Lost and without any direction.

I thought this time I’d be better off.
I thought that this love would be true
But to love someone as scarred as you are
The only fool being played will be You.
